A man and woman from Colchester are jailed after a brutal attack left their victim with serious injuries and a knife wound
Colchester: A couple just got sentenced for a nasty attack. Alex Potter and Bibi Stone assaulted a man in St John’s Avenue. This happened on April 13, 2024, near the city center. They left him with serious head injuries and a knife wound. They even took his wallet and some change.
Police were quick to act. They arrested Bibi Stone, 39, within half an hour. But Alex Potter, 32, tried to run away for a week. He finally turned himself in. The victim got urgent care at the scene and was later taken to the hospital.
Luckily, his injuries weren’t life-changing. Both Potter and Stone admitted to causing damage but denied the more serious charges. They faced charges of aggravated burglary and wounding with intent.
In the end, a jury found them guilty. On January 10, 2025, a judge sentenced Potter to eight years. Stone got three years and nine months. Detective Guy Mortimer said they forced their way in and violently attacked the victim. He’s glad justice was served.
