We checked out Thorne Records in Edinburgh, a top-rated vinyl spot, and it was a delightful experience filled with music and community vibes
Edinburgh: We recently visited Thorne Records, a record store that’s been getting a lot of buzz. It’s been named one of the best in the world, and we had to see why.
Located in Bruntsfield, this shop is bright and welcoming. The yellow walls instantly lift your mood. Mark Thorne, the owner, is super friendly and loves chatting with customers.
He opened the store in 2022 and focuses on in-person sales. Mark believes that building relationships with locals is key to his success. He doesn’t sell online, which is pretty rare these days.
When we walked in, the atmosphere was relaxed. You could easily spend hours browsing without feeling rushed. They even have cassettes for those nostalgic for the ’80s!
Mark shared that he’s proud of his decision to keep it local. He said, “I could make more money online, but I’d miss out on connecting with my community.”
He’s all about enthusiasm and passion for music. Mark puts his personality into the store, making it a fun place to be. He wants everyone to leave happier than when they arrived.
Thorne Records has a wide selection of music, from classics to the latest hits. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, Mark will do his best to find it for you.
He stocks popular music that people want, from The Beatles to Dua Lipa. The Financial Times praised Thorne Records for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse collection.
If you’re in Edinburgh, definitely check out Thorne Records at 125 Bruntsfield Place. They’re open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.
