Police scanned over 900 students and staff at Passmores Academy after a nearby knife incident, ensuring safety and community engagement.
On that Tuesday morning, over 900 students and staff walked through a metal detector. This portable tech checks for weapons and can be used in various places.
Luckily, no knives or weapons were found during the scans. This operation followed a recent incident where a 15-year-old boy was arrested for assault and having a blade.
Essex Police shared that their teams were present to engage with students. Many students were curious about how the scanning worked and appreciated the police’s efforts.
The police thanked everyone for their cooperation. They emphasized that such operations help educate the community about the dangers of carrying weapons. They plan to continue these safety measures in Harlow to keep everyone safe.
