Southend: A 26-year-old dealer named Encoch Odubanjo has been sentenced to over seven years in prison. He was running drug operations between Southend and London.

The police caught him after a dedicated team, Operation Raptor, shut down two drug lines called ‘Ace’ and ‘Max’. These lines were active from August to November 2023.

Odubanjo exploited vulnerable people to help him sell drugs. One of them, Leanne Callaghan, was seen on CCTV doing a drug deal in Southend.

She admitted to being involved in three deals but was under pressure and struggling with addiction. The court gave her a suspended sentence of 21 months with a rehabilitation requirement.

Odubanjo, however, was found guilty after a trial. He had hoped to profit from selling drugs and even planned to rent a flat for £2,000 a month. Instead, he will spend seven years and six months behind bars.

The police emphasized that dealing drugs is risky and leads to serious consequences. They encourage the community to report any drug activity they see. Every report helps build cases against dealers like Odubanjo.
