Edinburgh: A tragic story unfolded when Andrew Main, a 33-year-old man, died after a violent encounter. It all started on July 16 last year when he was in Swansea for work. He met two men, Joseph Dix and Macauley Ruddock, at a bar. They all had a few drinks, and things seemed fine at first.

But later that night, outside the Travelodge, a fight broke out. Andrew’s friend, Michael, ran away, leaving him alone against the two men. They attacked him brutally, and it was a shocking scene. Andrew was knocked out cold, and they kept hitting him while he lay there.

After the assault, Andrew was rushed to the hospital with severe brain injuries. He was later moved to a hospital in Edinburgh to be closer to his family. Sadly, he never regained consciousness and passed away four weeks later.

Joseph and Macauley were initially charged with causing serious harm but were later charged with murder after Andrew’s death. They claimed they acted in self-defense, but the jury found them guilty. The judge made it clear that they would face life in prison.

Andrew’s sister, Nikki, shared her heartbreak after his passing. She described him as a loving brother and father, and the family is devastated by the loss. The community is mourning too, coming together to support each other during this tough time.

Detective Inspector Claire Lamerton from South Wales Police emphasized that the violence was unnecessary. She said if the men had walked away, Andrew would still be alive. This case serves as a reminder of how alcohol can lead to poor decisions and tragic outcomes.
