Edinburgh: There’s some buzz about a new project in Leith. An old pizza restaurant is set to be transformed into a hotel. It’s been sitting empty for a while now. The place has been on the market since May 2021, but no one has shown interest.

The new plan is to create a ten-bedroom aparthotel. Five of those rooms will have two bedrooms, while the other five will be one-bedroom units. Each room will come with kitchen facilities and living areas. Plus, there will be a reception area and a shared garden for guests to relax in.

The developers, Visser & Co Ltd, are working with Ferguson Planning on this project. They’ve even got plans for a two-storey extension, which the council approved last November.

The building has been marketed as a restaurant and office space, but it seems those ideas didn’t attract any buyers. The developers believe there’s a demand for short-stay accommodations in the area. They’ve submitted a management plan to ensure everything runs smoothly and keeps the neighbors happy.

If you’re curious, you can check out the application on the council’s planning portal. It’s an exciting change for the neighborhood!
