A primary school teacher in Essex has been banned for not reporting an indecent video of a child he received via Facebook
The video popped up in his Facebook messages back in April 2019. It was a serious category A video, the worst kind. Singh was arrested later that year, but police didn’t take further action.
The Teaching Regulation Authority held a misconduct hearing. They found Singh guilty of all counts. He claimed he thought the video was deleted and that Facebook and the police were handling it.
However, the panel wasn’t buying it. They felt he didn’t take full responsibility for his actions. Singh expressed shock and confusion over receiving the video, saying it was unsolicited from someone he knew from Guyana.
In the end, Singh was banned from teaching indefinitely. He can’t teach in any school or youth facility in England. He can apply to have the ban lifted in five years, but it’s not guaranteed.
