Mark Ferguson, who killed his girlfriend over a cigarette, has died in prison at the age of 53, leaving behind a tragic story.
Ferguson was serving time for the murder of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Hunter. This terrible incident happened back in May 2008. It all started over a cigarette dispute. Elizabeth accused him of smoking their last one.
In a fit of rage, he strangled her with her stockings. The judge called it a “wicked and horrible crime.” Elizabeth’s sister shared how much pain the family felt. No sentence could fill that void.
Ferguson was sentenced to life in prison. He had to serve at least 12 years before being eligible for parole. After the murder, he dressed Elizabeth and went to sleep.
When he woke up, he realized what he had done. He called the police to confess. The prison spokesperson mentioned that every death in custody is reported to the authorities. They will hold a Fatal Accident Inquiry in due time.
