A tragic accident at a West Lothian farm claimed the lives of two fathers, highlighting serious safety issues in construction work.
The wall was part of an old milking byre, standing about nine feet high. It had been left unsupported after demolition work. Local contractors were supposed to secure it, but things went terribly wrong.
While working on the site, the wall suddenly split and fell, burying the men under tons of rubble. Sadly, both were killed instantly.
Peter was a father of three, and James had one child. Their families are devastated. Two other workers were also hurt but survived.
Investigations revealed serious safety lapses. The company responsible, Fernbrooke Scotland, admitted to not ensuring proper safety measures. They didn’t check the wall’s condition before starting work.
The court is set to decide on penalties for the company. The tragedy has left a community in mourning, with heartfelt tributes pouring in for the two men.
