A man who brutally killed a young mum may spend his life in a secure hospital after being deemed a danger to the public following a tragic incident.
Aimee had turned down Porchetta’s advances, insisting they were just friends. The next day, her father found her body. Porchetta was supposed to face a murder trial but was deemed unfit due to a learning disability.
Instead, a hearing looked into the facts of the case and Porchetta’s mental state. The judge, Lord Mulholland, concluded that he was responsible for the attack.
In court, it was revealed that Porchetta had tried to cover his tracks. He got rid of Aimee’s phone and cleaned blood from his shoes. Aimee’s family was in court, visibly emotional as they heard the details.
The judge stated that Porchetta was a danger to the public and imposed an indefinite order for him to stay in a secure hospital. He described the attack as cowardly and vicious, noting Aimee fought for her life.
Witnesses shared how Porchetta had been using cocaine and had a troubled history. Aimee had previously expressed concern about his behavior.
Psychiatrists testified that Porchetta needs long-term management while in the hospital. There’s a chance he may never be released, as there seems to be no clear motive for the brutal act.
